About Nanagrams - anagrams with numbers

Nanagrams is a numbers puzzle that involves finding all the valid calculations using the numbers and symbols shown.

A calculation always involves numbers and symbols before an equals sign and finishing with a final number. For example: 4*3+2=14.

How to play Nanagrams

Enter a calculation by tapping on the cells in the grid displayed on screen. The list underneath the game shows you how many valid calculations there are and how long each one is. Any valid calculation you enter will be saved in the list automatically. Calculations must also follow these rules:

• Dark pink squares are compulsory and must be used in every calculation.

• All squares can only be used once.

• All calculations have an equals sign.

• Only a number is allowed after the equals.

Commutatives ('C')

Commutative solutions (ie 1+2=3 and 2+1=3) are automatically accepted. 'C' next to an answer line indicates that a solution has valid commutative equivalents.

Rearrangements ('R')

Some answers can be rearranged to another valid answer (eg 3-2=1 → 3-1=2). Whilst rearrangements are not treated as the same answer, click on a completed answer to find valid rearrangements. 'R' next to an answer line indicates that a solution has valid rearrangements.

Four difficulty levels to play

There are four nanagram levels to play each day. 'x6' is the easiest, with calculations up to 6 characters long (eg 1+9=10). Then you can work you way up to 'x9', with calculations up to 9 characters (eg 5*6*7=210). But don't forget that this is only the maximum. To complete a puzzle, you need to find even all possible nanagrams, even the shortest ones. So 1+2=3 could be a valid solution for any level.
