Bill Gates still loves nerdle

Ever since Bill Gates posted a video of himself playing nerdle back in 2022, we’ve been quiet admirers of his writing over at gatesnotes.com. It’s a genuinely thoughtful corner of the web, and far more than games and gadgets: it ranges across the big things he spends his time on, from zero-emission electricity generation to access to healthcare through AI.
A lovely surprise
So when we clicked through to his official “Meet Bill” page recently, featuring on it was the very last thing on our minds. You can picture our delight when we spotted the little pink and green nerdle logo sitting bang in the middle of the illustrated header, right among the things that sum up his life: reading, tennis, Seattle’s Space Needle, the early days of computing, and family.
Why it means so much to us
nerdle began as a game a dad and daughter dreamed up in a traffic jam (the whole story is here). For it to turn up on the personal page of someone whose work touches hundreds of millions of lives is humbling and delightful in equal measure. Thank you, Bill.
He’s been kind to us before
This isn’t the first time. Back in 2022 he walked his followers through how to play, which was a jaw-dropping moment for our small team. So “he still loves us” feels about right, and our mathscot, as you can see above, is absolutely over the moon.
